Edward White Models is a specialist model shop in Duncormick, Co. Wexford, trading online as Toymodels.ie. This ecommerce website project brings its diecast models and scenery together in an online catalogue, while giving customers a route to arrange a visit to the physical shop.

The project combines two customer journeys: finding and buying a model online, and contacting the business about an appointment to browse in person.

The ecommerce brief

For a specialist retailer, the website needs to help visitors recognise the range, find a relevant item and understand what they are buying. The Edward White Models project focused on clear product organisation, a straightforward shopping route and information about the shop in County Wexford.

The homepage introduces the business, provides a Shop Now link and highlights the latest stock. Customers can begin with a broad category or use product search when they already have a particular model in mind.

Categories and product search

The main shop page gives access to Farm, Construction and Scenery, alongside other catalogue areas. Within Farm, more detailed categories include brands such as Britains, Universal Hobbies and Wiking, as well as groups for accessories, animals and people.

This structure gives collectors a way to narrow the range in stages. Product search provides another route for someone looking for a specific item. Category names and search serve related purposes: one supports browsing, while the other helps a customer start with a name or product they already know.

From product details to basket

The product layout brings together a photograph, price, product code and availability, with quantity controls and an Add to Basket button. These details help a visitor identify the item and choose how many to add.

The shop provides a basket and online payment options. Customer information links cover shipping, payments and terms, giving buyers places to check the ordering information before purchasing. For another retailer planning an ecommerce site, product information and the buying route both need attention alongside the homepage design.

Connecting the online and physical shop

The Visit Our Shop page explains that visits to the Duncormick premises are strictly by appointment. Customers can call the business or complete a Book A Visit form with their contact details and preferred day and time. The page explains that the business will contact them to arrange the visit.

A location map and photographs of the actual shop support that information. Keeping the visit route visible in the main menu helps the website serve people who want to browse in person as well as those shopping online.
