Ask for the pages to be named and the features to be described. A contact form, booking system and membership area are different pieces of work. Clarify any connections to software you already use and identify ongoing subscription costs.
Agree who writes the text, supplies images and prepares product data. If existing content is being reused, clarify whether it is moved as supplied or edited. Identify any photography, licensed images or copywriting that will be quoted separately.

Ask which headings, titles, descriptions, internal links and indexing checks are included. An agreed website setup does not guarantee a ranking. Ongoing SEO work has a separate scope. If Local SEO is relevant, discuss the work and eligibility requirements separately.
Clarify how the website will be checked across screen sizes and browsers, how forms and other important features will be tested, and what performance work is included. If Analytics or enquiry tracking is required, agree the setup and consent requirements, and how it will be verified.
Agree the website and account access you will receive, who manages domain and hosting renewals, and who to contact after launch. Identify any paid software licences and their renewal arrangements. Separate support included with the project from an ongoing service.
A website care plan covers the technical maintenance agreed for the plan, such as updates, backups and monitoring. Content changes, including text updates, new images and new pages, are quoted separately. Ask how additional features and other work outside the original scope will be handled.
Use the written scope to decide whether a quote meets your needs. Adding services you do not need can increase the cost; leaving an important requirement undefined can lead to additional work later.
